I LOVE FASHION BECAUSE: I’ve always loved creating a look that was unique to me. I’m Nigerian and growing up we’d wear matching traditional Nigerian outfits to events but for parties we used to shop for new outfits.
VoyageLA Interview: LA's Most Inspiring Stories - Meet Lisa Nwoyé
Lisa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m Nigerian, Igbo to be specific and education has always been important to me since I was a little girl. After graduating from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing I decided to move to Los Angeles. Once I arrived to Los Angeles I thought my degree would get me my dream Marketing Job in the Hollywood Entertainment industry. I was hit with many surprises to see that the time I spent in Silicon Valley interning in the tech industry didn’t mean anything to Hollywood. I eventually took on a job as an assistant working with recording artists that were signed to major record labels and professional athletes. During my time working as an assistant, I went back to school and completed a Master’s degree. While working on my Masters I interned at B.E.T in the Legal and Business Affairs department and also Interned at Warner Music Group in the Digital Marketing department.
