My NYFW SS24 experience
My love for fashion started when I was a little girl and I would make clothes for my dolls. Yes at the age of eight (8) I was threading up a sewing needle and cutting up my clothes to make outfits for my dolls. By the time I was 14 years old I took my first sewing class. This was my first time working with a sewing machine and I just fell in love with the process of making things and being able to see the final result. I remember my instructor would allow students to come in and work on projects outside of class hours and always took advantage of those moments.
By time I was 16 I started designing my own clothes and making them. I was always excited to make something to wear to a concert. Also being Nigerian I started telling tailors how to make my cultural dresses for occasion I would attend with my family.
When I got to college, I didn’t have much time to focus on making clothes but still took my time putting outfits together for parties and events.
This year was my 3rd NYFW and I must say the Hightlight for me was attending the Victoria Secret show. I wore Victoria Secret for many years. I remember there was once a time where I couldnt walk in to a mall that had a Victoria Seceret store with out visiting the store and making a purchase. I’ll be honest over the past few years I’ve been a Savage Fenty Girl. Savage Fenty has been size inclusive and they have multiple shades of brown for nude bras and underwear.
I closed out Fashion Week DJing the “La Pluie”SS24 FREEMIND US fashion show. It was such an honor to be included in such an iconic night of fashion.
